We hear every day worrying messages from around the world on rivers dry, temperatures in the ocean increases, melting ice, people have to move from their traditional living places and animals that are threatened by these changes.
We therefore wish to make our efforts for our common environment and people's right to live as they always have.
So we invite for submission of images on the theme "Traditional living".
We mean then images of people living in harmony with its tradition and its roots.
We are looking for photos of people who have taken care of their inheritance from ancestors whether it had to be Inuits in Greenland, Lofoten fishermen in Norway, Sami with reindeer in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia, risfarmers in Asia, tribal people in South America or The cowboy on the American prairie.
The images must show the anchoring in our origins while also showing our adaptation to today's tecnological world.
Lofoten fishermen is today using motorboats and not sails anymore. Sami uses snowmobiles and four-wheel motorbike instead of drawing reindeer. The Inuit of Greenland using dog sleds in combination with snowmobiles.
And so we are developing the humans constantly in harmony with our tradition and heritage, while we are adapting modern equipment. But the Sami people remains in harmony with nature and what nature can tolerate, such as the Inuit do not catch more seals than the population can withstand.
Our focus is therefore the traditional way of life on nature's terms.
Show us the best photos from around the world and let us focus on the human right to preserve Mother Earth!
We look forward to receiving your entries for the 1st Lofoten Exhibition of Photographic Art 2014
